Finally, IGNOU has extended the last date for online re-registration. New Last Date is now 31st January 2021. Prior to this, 15th January 2021, was the last date to apply online for Indira Gandhi National Open University Re-Registration. Also, those students who were supposed to apply for Online Re-Registration in IGNOU, but couldn’t, are kindly requested to not miss this chance.
This disadvantage of not going for IGNOU Re-Registration is the loss of 1 year or 6 months at least. All Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree students who took admission in 2nd year in January 2020, are kindly requested to take part in this IGNOU Re-Registration process. Similarly, January 2020 Fresh Admission students of Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree program are kindly requested to apply for this Jan 2021 Re-Registration process. Master of Business Administration (MP), Master of Business Administration (Banking & Finance) (MPB) AND Master of Computer Applications (MCA).
IGNOU Re-Registration Jan 2021 Session, Status, Last Date
Re-Registration facility for the following programs i.e. Programmes for which Re-Registration was not started earlier like – MBA and MBA (Banking), Master of Social Work, Integrated BCA-MCA and BSc (Old Pattern – for students enrolled up to Jan 2019) is being finalized and shall be made available by 25th May 2020. Fee exemption to SC/ST students in online Re-Registration July 2020 will be done, but following some conditions which can be checked on IGNOU Official website on www.ignou.ac.in. All those candidates who accidentally missed the chance of filling up the re-registration form in Jan 2020, this is a great chance for them to enroll again. But, still, if you’re confused about the fact that you should go for this process or not, just make sure to visit the Re-Registration Official website on an authorized website. Then, enter your Programme Code and Enrollment number and the system will itself let you know whether you’ll need to fill the online form or not. First of all, select your program type out of Bachelor, Diploma, and Master.

What’s the difference between re-admission & re-registration

Some of the programmes of IGNOU are of three years’ duration like BA, BCom, BSc
or BTS. Again for MBA one does not register for the entire programme in one go. Such
a student is supposed to re-register. A student of BA will re-register for the second year
while he is in the first year and for the third year while he is in the second year. Similarly,
a student of management programme has to register semesterwise and in a particular
semester he can register for maximum of four courses. So every registration he
undertakes after the initial admission is a re-registration in his case.
Now, for every programme of IGNOU there is a minimum duration and a maximum
permissible period. If a learner cannot complete the programme successfully within
the maximum permissible period then his registration becomes time-barred. He can
then exercise the provision of re-admission into IGNOU and he gets the facility of
credit transfer for all the courses he had successfully completed earlier.

It is the process of applying for next semester through online or offline to IGNOU by paying the defined amount by IGNOU according to the degree. Re-registration allows you to fill up for next semester classes to complete the degree.
Hence, what you do in the 1st year is called Admission. Re-registration is for 2nd and subsequent years.
